Blockchain sleuth ZachXBT shared screenshots of emails from an IRS employee who asked him for help in investigating cryptocurrency crimes.
Cryptodetective ZachXBT wrote on the X platform that over the past few months he has received about five letters from a certain IRS agent. The messages came to old email addresses, and the department employee did not contact him through public communication channels. ZachXBT explained that he is ready to help victims of crypto-crimes and help law enforcement agencies with the necessary information, but it seemed to him that the IRS employee was going beyond the bounds and neglecting professionalism. According to the published screenshots, the IRS special agent first praised the crypto detective and then repeatedly asked for his help in tracking down suspicious transactions on the blockchain. Thus, the IRS admitted its incompetence, ZachXBT hinted.
“I already sent you a message last month, but never received a response. I have been working as an IRS Special Agent for some time and I need your help. I’m new to the crypto space and I want to do a good job and stand out among my peers. What do you think I should pay attention to, what tools? Can you give me some ideas? What is the best way to contact you? If you don’t mind, we could meet in person or make an appointment at our office,” the published screenshots of the letter say.
Note that the crypto detective ZachXBT has achieved great success in uncovering major hacker attacks. In March, he uncovered the theft of $900,000 worth of TICKER crypto assets, and last year he warned users that the DeFi Fintoch project could turn out to be a crypto pyramid.
